Make your own pizza is a basic procedure for making pizza which can be used regardless of the details of the recipe you use.

The procedure can be used as a stand-alone resource, or in conjunction with other pizza-themed resources including the interactive What’s on your pizza?

With the assistance of an adult, children could make their own pizzas in literacy groups; reading and following the instructions.

It would be interesting to ask children to write how they think pizzas are made before they have any experience of doing so. Have them write the instructions again after making pizza to compare the effectiveness of their instructions.

The procedure can also be cut and used as a sequencing activity, or to illustrate a recount. Simply cut off the number and words prior to distribution.

Note: This resource is also available in the digital interactive resource What’s on your pizza?
