The Who is here today interactive chart can be used from the first day of school as an unofficial record of attendance and an aid for children to learn to recognise their own names and the names of others.
Fill the chart with names of children in the class. Each day as the children arrive, they drag their name from the list onto the chart. It is easy to see, at a glance, who is at school and who isn’t.
The chart can be used in a variety of other ways that encourage learning based on the children’s names; for example:
- alphabetical order
- phonemic and print awareness
- regular and irregular spelling patterns
- ordering names according to the number of letters
