Dear Parents of Children Starting School is a letter to parents to remind them of their role as their child’s first and most important teachers and to provide suggestions for how they can best prepare their children for beginning school.

Suggestions include:

• talking with them
• playing with them
• reading stories to them
• giving them time and space to grow and develop at their own pace.

Parents are also encouraged to work with teachers to make school a positive experience for everyone.
