    Going out to play – A4 booklet: Develop sight words with this fun beginning reader Going out to play.

    In the story, two children, a girl and a boy, get dressed for going out to play on their bikes.

    The repetitive text and supporting illustrations makes the text easy for beginning readers to learn sight words in context.

    Sight words include: I, put, on, my, go, going, out, to, play.

    This A4 version of the story is suited for collaborative reading with the whole class or small groups.

    When printing pages of the booklet back to back, choose “Flip on short edge”.

    Use the booklet in conjunction with the interactive digital resource Let’s play interactive.

    A version to suit printing as A5 booklets for use with individual children is also available. The booklet includes a sight words checklist. Children colour the words to show which they recognise.

    A spinner game is also available to support the text and learning the sight words.
