Fun with Syllables

an interactive resource for teaching syllables to young children

$2.50

Fun with Syllables is an introduction to syllables for young children.

The concept of syllables is introduced as an auditory activity developing phonemic awareness.

The words are presented as images. Children say the words and clap to identify the number of syllables in words with one, two, three or more than three syllables.

The resource can be used over a number of lessons that are ready to teach on the interactive whiteboard.

An introductory section explains syllables in child-friendly terms.

On subsequent slides, children identify words with one, two, three or more syllables.

On a final ‘Sort the Words’ slide, children sort words according to the number of syllables.

Note: While this resource can be accessed on mobile devices, functionality is optimised when accessed on a computer and displayed on an interactive whiteboard.
